The colour IS the glass; it cannot fade, chip or peel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePâte de verre was invented at the Cristallerie de Pantin in Paris in 1881. There are perhaps eight pâte de verre artists working in the UK today. Gareth is finishing on the hummingbird design his French master Jean-Claude Bouchard taught him in 1979.
