Frances's Kiln-Painted Hummingbird Suncatcher

The final 96 from a 32-year Shropshire studio

A single hand-painted, kiln-fused hummingbird suncatcher (30 × 30 cm) — one sheet of 3.5mm float glass, painted by hand in vitreous-enamel pigment and fired overnight in Frances Holloway's small electric kiln at 580°C. The colour fuses into the glass; it does not sit on the surface. Hummingbird in flight through a wreath of pink and purple hibiscus. The Shropshire studio closes at the end of August 2026 — one year to the day after Frances's husband Tom died last summer. After the last 96 ship, there will be no more.

What sets it apart

• Kiln-painted, not cut-and-leaded — single sheet of float glass, painted in vitreous-enamel pigment and fired at 580°C overnight
• Iron-oxide outliner — the same iron-and-clay pigment used in cathedral-window restoration since the 12th century
• 4–6 hours of hand-painting per piece plus a full overnight kiln cycle
• 3.5mm float glass — kiln-fused, holds its colour for decades, won't chip or peel
• Fine silver chain + suction-cup hook included; no drilling required
• One pair of hands — every suncatcher passes through Frances's bench in the old Shropshire dairy
